Pound-for-pound rankings are meaningless
Pound-for-pound asks who would win if everyone were the same size. Nobody can ever answer that, and no fight can ever prove it. It's fantasy booking with a straight face.
In practice the lists reward whoever had the latest big win, favour the fighters the media already loves, and punish anyone smart enough to take the right fight instead of the biggest one.
And yet every broadcaster, magazine and promotion has one, and fans argue about them more than about actual fights.
Maybe that's the point: it's the one argument that never ends.
Should P4P lists exist at all? If yes, who's number one right now, and what's your rule for ranking?
